Late-night Cravings? Here Are Abilene’s Best Dining Spots
If you’ve ever wrapped up a long day or late-night radio shift and found yourself starving after 10 p.m., you know how tough it can be to find a real meal in West Texas. Since I’ve been on-air from 3 to 7 p.m., I’ve learned that once the mics go off and the studio lights dim, most restaurant kitchens already have too. But not all hope, or hunger, is lost.

Below are my updated picks for late-night eats in and around Abilene and West Texas. Whether you’re craving a sit-down bite or a drive-thru fix, here are the go-to spots still serving when the rest of the Key City is fast asleep.
Top 5 Sit-Down Restaurants Open Late
- Fuzzy’s Taco Shop (Abilene) - Serves until midnight most nights, and the tacos always hit the spot.
- Taylor County Taphouse - Kitchen open until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, featuring local brews and Texas comfort food.
- Heff’s Burgers (Mall of Abilene) - Burgers, fries, and shakes till midnight Fridays and 1 a.m. Saturdays.
- Buffalo Wild Wings - Full menu till midnight weekdays, 2 a.m. weekends. Great place to catch the game.
- IHOP or Denny’s (24/7) - Classic breakfast any hour, any night, questions asked.
Top 5 Drive-Thrus Still Cooking
- Whataburger - Texas favorite, open 24/7.
- Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers - Most locations open till midnight or later.
- Taco Bell - Drive-thru open until 1 a.m. weekdays, 2 a.m. weekends.
- Sonic Drive-In - Till 11 p.m. weekdays, midnight weekends.
- McDonald’s (Buffalo Gap Rd.) - One of the few 24-hour drive-thrus left in town.
No matter where you roam across the Big Country, these spots have your back, and your belly, when it’s way past dinner time.
