Along Africa's great Zambezi River, right on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, there is a waterfall called Victoria Falls. And at certain times of year, when the water level is just right, you can go swimming right at the very edge—looking down 100 meters into the gorge below.

Now, that might sound crazy, suicidal even. But there's a weird quirk that will keep you from tumbling down with the current: a natural rock wall that can't be seen from above the surface sits right at the edge, just before the water cascades down. The swimming hole, known as Devil's Pool, is a popular tourist destination.
