On August 18th the City of Abilene will officially open it's latest addition to Scarborough Park. The City's Parks and Recreation Division has just added a new splash pad near the corner of Hartford St. and Corsicana Ave by Reagan Elementary School.

While Abilene can have some brutally hot summers, this water attraction is a way for some West Texans to keep cool. The Scarborough addition is one of several more to be added in the coming years.

The cool thing about these pads is that they reclaim and filter the water. So water waste is at a minimal. In the video above, I was given a sneak peak at a "Wet Run", as the installers called it.

The manufacturer/installer was making sure it was fully functional before they turned it over to the City for the ribbon cutting on Thursday morning. Alaisha Guerra the
Communications & Media Relations Manager for the city said they will operate from sunrise to sundown seven days a week, seasonally.

It will be a great way to cool off before school starts.
