Many of us in the country music industry know him as either Whisperin’ Bill Anderson, Double-S or just plain ole Bill Anderson, a country singing, music playing fun loving kind of guy. Recently Whisperin' Bill was on hand for the grand opening of a venue named in his honor in Commerce, Georgia. the Idea for a "Bill Anderson" named performing arts center was first thought of by the man himself back in 1997 during a celebration for the 40th Anniversary of radio station WJJC.

Anderson had once worked at the radio station as a Disc Jockey for several years. Bill had always wanted to give back to his old home town, so from a simple little conversation Anderson struck up with a few folks from the ole hometown, thus began, "The City Lights Festival" created solely fore raising funds and awareness and also the name-sake for one of Bill's hit songs Anderson wrote when he was a teenager living in Commerce Ga. The festival has since then evolved into a decade of annual festivities and concerts to raise the money necessary to build the performing arts center. Housed on the campus of  Commerce High School, you'll find a building which is called the Bill Anderson Performing Arts Center. A major give back to a community that has loved and supported their towns brightest shining star, Whisperin' Bill Anderson.
