I will be the first to admit that I am addicted to working, whether it's here at the radio station, at home, or helping out a charitable organization in our community. I get up and start working around 5 am; by the time I leave the studio, it's between 10 pm and 1 AM.

Yes, I am a work junkie or whatever you want to call me, so it comes as no surprise to me that Texas has nine of the hardest-working cities in the top 20 across the United States. While the town I reside in didn't make the top 20, I'm not surprised Texas had many cities in the top 50 nationwide.

March 1st is National Employee Appreciation Day and that comes with some staggering numbers. We Texans tend to work more hours than the average 40 hours per week. According to Wallet Hub's latest research, Texans will put in an additional 1,811 hours per year more than most states in America and for the most part around the world.

If the average Texan puts in 40 hours per week and we multiply that by 52 weeks we are putting in 2,080 hours a year. Take the 2,080 hours per year and add the overtime of 1,811 hours, we've got a total of 3,891 working hours a year.

1. Washington, DC
