Do you have a dog that loves to run? The Abilene Kennel Club is bringing one of the most exhilarating canine competitions to Oscar Rose Park. The Fast CAT (Coursing Ability Test), despite the name, has nothing to do with felines but everything to do with canines discovering the fastest dog in West Texas.

What is a Texas Fast CAT?

Fast CAT, as mentioned above is short for Coursing Ability Test, an exciting 100-yard dash designed to measure a dog's natural speed and prey drive. Each dog runs individually while chasing a mechanical lure down a straight track. The goal? To clock the fastest time possible while having a Texas tail-wagging good time.

Who in Texas Can Participate?

Unlike traditional dog races that focus on specific breeds, Fast CAT is open to all dogs, including mixed breeds. Whether your dog is a speed demon or just loves to chase, they are all welcome to participate. The Abilene Kennel Club (AKC) oversees the event, ensuring a safe and fun experience for all. The Fast CAT event will take place at Oscar Rose Park located at 2605 South 7th, in  Abilene Texas on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 & 13, 2025. Spectators are encouraged to come and cheer on these four-legged athletes, and dog owners can register their pups to compete in this thrilling event.
