Sugarland Re-Sign With Big Machine Label Group
Sugarland have re-signed with Big Machine Records for their next chapter as a group. Previously, the duo were signed jointly to Big Machine and Universal Music Nashville, and they released their 2018 studio album, Bigger, via both labels.
Bandmates Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush agree that they're excited to continue their career together with Big Machine, whose label head, Scott Borchetta, has been a big fan of their work since the early days. "Scott has been there for Sugarland since our very first release, 'Baby Girl,' and continues to be our biggest champion when it comes to our records," Nettles notes in a press release.
"Sugarland has always been a band with a mission to spread our message as far as we can into every corner of the world, and I can imagine no better partner or bigger machine than Scott Borchetta and BMLG," adds Bush.
Bigger came out in June of 2018, and was the duo's first project together since they went on a hiatus in 2012. Before they split, Sugarland put out five studio albums between 2002 and 2010. For all of those five projects, they were signed to Mercury Nashville.
Bush and Nettles haven't shared what's next for Sugarland, though their new label signing hints that the band is planning something for the future. In addition to their work together, both artists have fostered significant careers on their own terms: Nettles has released multiple solo albums, and also recently flexed her acting skills with a role in Harriet.
For his part, Bush has collaborated with artists such as Dan Tyminski, Frankie Ballard and Lindsay Ell. He recently announced a new project called Dark Water.
