Starz’s ‘Power’ Season 2: 50 Cent Gangster Drama Renewed for 2015 with Additional Episodes
We haven't made very much of Starz's recently-premiered and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson-produced gangster drama 'Power,' but as we've come to expect from the cable network, Starz isn't waiting very long to double down. Following a modest premiere, Starz has officially greenlit 'Power' for a second season to air in 2015, and with an expanded order at that.
In spite of mixed reviews for the premiere episode, Starz has confirmed that the 8-episode first season of 'Power' will be followed by production on a 10-episode season 2, beginning in September 2014 for a 2015 airdate. Said 50 Cent of the news, “’Power’ is a project extremely close to my heart and working with Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik and the Starz team has been the perfect fit for this. Viewers may be loving the start of season one now, but season two will blow them away."
For those unfamiliar with the series, in which 50 Cent plays a small role opposite leading man Omari Hardwick, 'Power' follows wealthy New York City nightclub owner James "Ghost" St. Patrick, who aims to turn his nightclub "Truth" into a Fortune 500 business, but also moonlights as the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. The drama also stars Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Andy Bean, Sinqua Walls, Adam Huss, Greg Serano, Lucy Walters, Kathrine Narducci and Luis Antonio Ramos. La La Anthony, Diane Neal, Victor Garber, J.R. Ramirez, Debbi Morgan, Shane Johnson and Enrique Murciano also appear.
We've included the entire 'Power' premiere below, as well as its trailer, but what say you? Are you happy Starz's new gangster drama has already been confirmed for a second season?
