‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ Season 3: Starz Renews for 2015, Goyer Steps Down as Showrunner
In recent years we've seen Starz struggle a bit beyond its usual two-season order, canceling 'Magic City' after its initial run while the likes of 'Black Sails' had difficulty breaking out with an audience. That said, 'Da Vinci's Demons' remains strong enough that Starz officially elected to press on with its season 3 in 2015, albeit with a reduced role for series creator David S. Goyer.
Goyer will continue to serve as executive producer, though 'X-Files' alum John Shiban has been added to the mix as producer and showrunner for 'Da Vinci's Demons' season 3. "I'm very proud of this modern take on the endlessly fascinating Leonardo da Vinci -- everyone from the writers, directors, cast and all the crew have been invaluable and will continue to be for what we have ahead," says Goyer. "I've been a fan of John's work for some time and I'm excited to add his voice to the mix."
For those not keeping up with the ongoing second season, 'Da Vinci's Demons' stars Tom Riley ('Doctor Who') as the title character, 'Guardians of the Galaxy''s Laura Haddock as Lucrezia Donati, Elliot Cowan as Lorenzo Medici, 'Sherlock' star Lara Pulver as his wife Clarice Orsini, and Blake Ritson as the ruthless and unwavering Count Girolamo Riario, nephew of Pope Sixtus IV.
