Seeing the Milky Way with the naked eye can be eye straining at best, but when you invite astronomers (with their fancy telescopes) from all over the world and then invite West Texans to come and join the gathering, you've got yourself a 'Stars and Skies of Texas: Star Gazing Party' West Texas style.

If you would like to see the Milky Way in perfect clarity, you'll have to get away from the city limits and head out to the country where darkness prevails, then figure out which direction to look at, aim the telescope and take in God's great creation. ON Saturday March 24th the Fort Griffin Texas Historical Commission will be hosting a Stars and Skies of Texas: Star Gazing Party at Fort Griffin State Historic Site. The program begins at 7:30 pm at the Fort Griffin campground, the event is open to the public. The astronomers that will be on hand will assist, advise and answer your questions. For more information or to make camping reservations check out the Fort Griffin State Historical website or call them at 325-762-3592.
