In honor of the birthday of legendary artist/filmmaker/credits designer Saul Bass, Google has dedicated a very entertaining Doodle to the man, best known for his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese.

Film lovers everywhere know the significance of Saul Bass and his immortal contributions to some of cinema's finest films; it's an understatement to say he was crucial to the overall effectiveness to some of the greatest movies ever made, and changed the way we view credit sequences and movie posters. In addition to creating the opening credits for films like 'Spartacus,' 'Vertigo,' 'Cape Fear,' 'Casino,' and 'West Side Story' (just to name a few), he helped craft the shower sequence (and supposedly much more) in 'Psycho,' created the incredible posters for Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' and Otto Preminger's 'Anatomy of a Murder,' and directed the cult favorite sci-fi film 'Phase IV.'

But it's impossible to list all of Bass' achievements here without using at least 1,000 words. For now, enjoy the Google tribute to Bass, who would have been 93 years old today. (He died in 1996.)
