Miranda Lambert is on the road with her Highway Vagabond Tour, and made a pitstop in Connecticut with Old Dominion and Aubrie Sellers. Jamming to some 90’s country music with her tour mates, such music that inspired Lambert’s album The Weight of These Wings, Lambert and company brought that same fun to the stage at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Sellers started off the night with what she refers to as "garage country," playing tracks from her debut album, New City Blues. Sellers goes way back with Lambert; Her stepdad, Frank Liddell, has produced all of Lambert’s albums and even sang on Lambert’s 2014 Platinum. The idea of opening for the tour still came as a complete shock for the new country singer, “I was in the middle of a radio tour when I got the call, and I was so excited that I couldn’t get ready. I was running around the hotel room, telling everyone I know!” she told the audience.

When Old Dominion took the stage, they churned out “Snapback,” “Shut Me Up,” and a brand new song called “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart.” Old D was already familiar with the Connecticut casino, reflecting to the audience back on a time, less than a year ago, opening for Kenny Chesney all summer long. They also attended this year’s Super Bowl and performed at the Patriots' after party.

Lambert lit things up before long with “Kerosene,” “Highway Vagabond” and “Fastest Girl in Town.” She had many amusing stories to share all night with words of wisdom to her predominantly young female audience. One tale in particular was about her divorce from fellow country star, Blake Shelton, in 2015.

“It’s not a very pretty story,” she casually mentioned, admitting that, “It sucked, but that’s what divorces do.” She also mentioned “drinking a little extra” shortly before jumping into her song inspired by similar events, “Ugly Lights.” Lambert’s candor about life after Blake is admired by all, and it is clear how happy and content she looks these days with current boyfriend Anderson East.

She went on with the show with various hits: “Vice,” “The House That Built Me,” “Mama’s Broken Heart,” “Automatic,” “Gun Powder & Lead,” and “Tin Man.”

The Highway Vagabond Tour continues onward after a pause in Reading, Pa., and will proceed through the spring. Lambert will also be a featured headliner on this year’s Taste of Country Festival in Hunter, N.Y. with more appearances throughout the summer.
