Texas Gold : Small-Town Stars Who Put Their Hometowns on the Map

Oh, the good ol' state of Texas. You have given us so much to be proud of. You have been there to let others know not to mess with us. I don't know of any other state in this great country that has the resources to make it on our own.

That is why there has been talk again and again of wanting to be out on our own. What other state can actually boast about doing such a thing? None. That is for sure. Texas has a lot going for it.

Oh, and we as Texans have a lot going for us too. It doesn't matter where you are from in Texas it's just the pride that we are from here. We can from the littlest town in this great state and still make it big. I guess size does not matter.

There have been several stars that have come from the tiniest cities in Texas and have made quite the name for themselves that is for sure.

Dan Rather - Wharton, Texas

We all grew up getting our news from Dan Rather. Right? He is from Wharton, Texas. He started his career in Texas and then took it National. He was found on pretty much every household television.

George Strait - Poteet, Texas

George Strait is Texan through and through. I mean all his exes live in Texas. Or so I have heard. Plus he has no troubles making it to Amarillo by Morning. George is one of those celebrities that I feel nobody has a bad thing to say about. It is just him and his guitar and that is all we need.

Miranda Lambert - Lindale, Texas

Miranda Lambert won our hearts on Nashville Star. Since then she has done a lot in country music. She married and divorced Blake Shelton. She has many, many hits. They just keep on coming.

Sadie Sink - Brenham, Texas

This may be the first name that you see and you don't recognize it right away. I mean it all depends on your age and your fondness for Stranger Things. That is where you know her from. She plays Maxine "Max" Mayfield. I'm sure she will be one to keep watching to see what else she does.

Sissy Spacek - Quitman, Texas

The first thing I think when I hear the name Sissy Spacek is her performance in Carrie. Yeah that was enough to scare you. Of course she has done so much more. Sissy has also won many awards over the years.

Willie Nelson - Abbott, Texas

As a kid Willie Nelson was the only thing I knew about Texas. I had never been here but everyone knows about Willie. Then I moved here and Willie is still as Texas as they come. Oh, and he is still going. Willie Nelson is a national treasure. As he should be.
