Texas Vapers Are Spending Over $1 Billion a Year—And I’m One of Them
I came across a stat that honestly made me stop mid-hit, and yeah, I’ll own it… I’ve been vaping for about four years now after quitting cigarettes. Thought I was making a smarter move. Turns out, it’s just a different kind of trap.
According to a new report from Compare The Market, the average Texas vaper spends about $407 a year on disposable vapes. That doesn’t sound terrible… until you actually live it.
Because I’ll be real with you, I’m dropping about $30 a week. That’s roughly $120 a month, and yeah, it adds up quickly.

Texas Vapers Are Dropping Over $1 BILLION a Year
Here’s the part that really hits hard: Texas isn’t just casually vaping, we’re going all in like it’s a weekend BBQ cookoff.
There are about 2.5 million e-cigarette users in Texas, and collectively, we’re spending over $1 billion annually on disposable vapes.
One. Billion. Dollars. (Yes, I'm totally channeling my inner "Dr. Evil")
That’s not a habit anymore, that’s an industry fueled by folks like me thinking, “Eh, it’s cheaper than cigarettes.”
More Addictive Than Cigarettes? It Feels Like It
Here’s my honest take: vaping feels more addictive.
Why?
Because you can hit it anywhere. No stepping outside. No social stigma like cigarettes used to have. It’s just always there… and that’s the problem. In fact, as I write this article, I'm casually taking vape hits.
I catch myself reaching for it way more than I ever did with smokes. And lately? I can feel it. My lungs aren’t loving this arrangement.
The Hidden Cost: Your Health AND Your Wallet
Sure, Texas doesn’t tax vapes like some states do, which keeps prices lower. But let’s not kid ourselves, that doesn’t mean it’s cheap.
Between the money and the way it’s starting to feel physically, I’m at that point where I’m asking… is this really worth it? Because saving money on cigarettes doesn’t mean much if you’re still paying for it in other ways.
If you’re vaping right now, I’m not here to preach. I’m right there with you. But man… these numbers, and how it actually feels, might be worth thinking about.
