Texas Nude Beaches: The Lone Star State’s Most Unexpected Getaways
There are two kinds of people in this world. People who hear "nude beach" and immediately start Googling directions. And people who hear "nude beach" and immediately start wondering why anyone would voluntarily put that much trust in the Texas sun.
Either way, Texas has a few spots that have become legendary among folks who prefer fewer tan lines and less laundry.

Hippie Hollow Is the Real Deal

If you're looking for the only officially recognized clothing-optional public park in Texas, that would be Hippie Hollow Park near Austin. Located on Lake Travis, about 30 minutes from downtown, it's an adults-only destination known for rocky shorelines, beautiful views, and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Fair warning: those rocks don't care whether you're wearing pants or not.
The Unofficial Side of Things
Texas also has a few unofficial spots where naturists have gathered for years.
There's UFO Beach on South Padre Island, about 12 miles beyond the end of the paved road. The beach got its nickname from a washed-up emergency evacuation pod that looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Then you've got Bolivar and McFaddin Beach near High Island. It's remote, quiet, and far enough from civilization that you might start wondering if you've accidentally crossed into another dimension.
And for the truly committed, Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi offers enough seclusion that some folks hike 5 to 10 miles beyond the pavement just to find their own little slice of naked paradise.
A Different Kind of Texas Adventure
Honestly, what cracks me up isn't the nude beach part. It's the dedication. Some of these folks are hiking miles through heat, sand, wind, and mosquitoes just so they don't have to wear a pair of swim trunks.
That's commitment. Meanwhile, I'm over here complaining if I have to walk too far from the parking lot to the beach.
Texas is a big state, y'all. There's room for all kinds of adventures. Some just involve a little less clothing than others.
