Why This Viral Texas Door-Kicking Trend Could Turn Deadly Fast
There’s a new “trend” making the rounds in Texas, and it’s about as smart as lighting fireworks in your living room.
According to a MySanAntonio report on door-kick incidents, teens in places like Seguin have been running up to random homes and kicking doors in. No, not knocking, not ding-dong-ditching…full-on trying to bust the thing open.
We’re not talking harmless pranks. We’re talking thousands of dollars in damage and terrified homeowners.

This Ain’t Ding Dong Ditch Anymore
Look, we all did dumb stuff as kids. Ding dong ditch? Sure. Maybe a little harmless chaos. But, of course, those were different times then.
But kicking in someone’s door in Texas? That’s not a prank; that’s a really good way to end up on the wrong end of a very bad situation.
And let’s be real…in the Lone Star State, folks take home security seriously.

Texas Law Isn’t Playing Around
Here’s where it gets heavy. Texas has what’s called the Castle Doctrine, which basically means if someone thinks you’re breaking into their home, they can legally use force, including deadly force, in certain situations.
So yeah…if a homeowner thinks that a door kick is an actual break-in attempt, things could escalate fast, and legally, they may be protected.
A “Trend” That Could End Real Bad
Best case? You’re paying for a busted door and catching charges. Worst case? You scared the wrong person at the wrong time. And suddenly, that viral video idea turns into something nobody walks away from.
Maybe Let’s…Not Do This
I’m not trying to sound like the old guy yelling at the kids to get off my lawn, but come on. There’s dumb…and then there’s “kick in a random Texas front door” dumb.
There are a million bad ideas out there...this one ain’t worth it.
