Construction Forces Fall Cancellation Of Beloved Abilene Cruise Night Event
We hate making this announcement, but we’ve decided to cancel this fall’s Cruise Night in Abilene.
Why Is Cruise Night Canceled?
Construction on North and South First is bringing progress to our city, and we appreciate the work being done. Right now, though, the cones and stretches of single-lane traffic would make it hard to give everyone the Cruise Night they came for.
Some of these classic car owners have poured years of work into their rides. Asking them to navigate tight construction lanes and stop-and-go traffic adds a risk they shouldn’t have to take just to join us for a cruise.

We also have to think about the Abilene Police Department. Officers already do a lot to keep our community safe, and bringing more traffic into a congested area would make their job harder.
For now, we’re asking folks not to cruise North and South First while construction is underway. Once the roads are open and we can put on the kind of night car owners and spectators deserve, we’ll bring Cruise Night back.
Thank you to the car clubs, APD, our partners, and everyone who has helped make Cruise Night something Abilene looks forward to. This one hurts, but taking care of the people and cars that make it special matters more.
