While fans sit at home and worry about the behind-the-scenes struggles of The Batman and Flash, Zack Snyder keeps moving right along with that Justice League movie. A common complaint of the DC Cinematic Universe is that they haven’t let it bake in the oven enough; each character has a decent foundation in place with the supporting characters and visuals, but rather than build them up organically, Warner Bros. has chosen to throw them all together and hope things shake out for the best.

And sometimes that means passing on the actors who actually get it right. Laurence Fisbhurne’s Perry White might be one of the best things that Snyder’s superhero films have going for it, but in interview with the Los Angeles Times (via Heroic Hollywood), Fishburne noted that he won’t be joining the Justice League party. His point is pretty well-taken:

They asked me to come for a day, but I couldn’t work it out, schedule-wise. And really, what do you need the newspaperman in Justice League for? You want to see the Flash. You want to see Aquaman. You want to see Wonder Woman. You want to see the Lantern.

Fans are completionists. For a lot of them, it isn’t enough to have the main Justice League characters together in the film, they also want to see the supporting characters from each individual franchise make an appearance as well. As Fishburne notes, though, there’s absolutely no reason for Perry White to make an appearance in this film. He only makes sense in support of Clark Kent, and with Superman (temporarily) dead, something tells me that Justice League won’t find a lot of time to play with Superman’s alter ego and his work environment. Not even Superman can juggle resurrections and cosmic battles with a 40-hour work week.

With Justice League set for a November 17, 2017 release date, all eyes are on Zack Snyder and company to see if they can right the ship before it takes on too much water. Here’s hoping we get a chance to see you in Superman 3, Laurence.
