‘Finding Dory’ Trailer: You Can Go Home Again
Pixar has settled into a rhythm of releasing both sequels to huge hits and new, original movies in theaters. 2015 was home to two original Pixar movies — the Oscar-winning Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur — which means now it’s time for another sequel. Pixar’s next film is a follow-up to one of their most successful films of all-time, Finding Nemo, which sees director Andrew Stanton returning for Finding Dory. Can this sequel be just as good as Pixar’s original films? Let’s watch the new Finding Dory trailer and find out.
Fans of the original film will find a lot of familiar ground. The movie starts in Dory’s hometown with a familiar cast of characters (Nemo and Mr. Ray are back) before embarking on an adventure across the sea to track someone down. Marlin even hitches a ride on the shell of Crush, the stoner turtle. Sequels, especially ones this far removed from their originals (Finding Nemo was released in 2003) walk a fine line between reminding everyone what they loved about the first film and breaking new ground. Let’s hope Finding Dory is more of the latter.
In addition to Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks, who return as both Dory and Marlin, respectively, Finding Dory’s cast includes Ed O’Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, and Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton as Dory’s parents.
Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory reunites everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?
Finding Dory opens in theaters on June 17.
