I've had the privilege of broadcasting live from several Dyess We Care Team events over the years, and I've even picked up a paintbrush and hammer alongside these incredible Airmen as they built wheelchair ramps and helped local veterans and military families.

That's why this fundraiser means so much to me.

The Dyess We Care Team is bringing back its annual All-American Car Wash on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Hobby Lobby parking lot next to Statesman's Coffee, at 4654 South 14th Street in Abilene.

Every Donation Helps An Airman In Need

Every dollar raised benefits Operation Warm Heart, a program that provides immediate financial assistance to Airmen stationed at Dyess Air Force Base when unexpected emergencies happen.

For many young Airmen, this is their first assignment away from home. If a family emergency arises, Warm Heart can help them travel home, cover emergency expenses, or provide assistance when they need it most.

Even better, your donation goes even further this year thanks to matching sponsors including Star Auto Group, Texan Title, and Nick Follecker with Coldwell Banker, giving every contribution up to three times the impact.

More Than A Car Wash

The Dyess We Care Team does far more than wash cars.

Throughout the year, these volunteers donate their weekends to build wheelchair ramps for veterans, complete home improvement projects for military retirees, and serve throughout the Big Country whenever there's a need. Their motto says it all:

"Clean Cars. Stronger Airmen. Stronger Community."

Stop By And Show Your Support

Whether your vehicle needs a wash or you simply want to support the men and women who serve our country, this is an easy way to make a real difference.

I'll also be visiting with my friend and Dyess We Care Team founder, Gordon Story, on the radio before the event to help spread the word about a cause that continues to make a lasting impact on Airmen and families right here in the Big Country.

If you've never met the volunteers behind the Dyess We Care Team, this is a great opportunity to thank them for their service while helping ensure they're there for fellow Airmen when the unexpected happens.
