Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Pet Adoption Resource Center Coming Soon
Prior to All Kind Animal Initiative taking over operations of the Abilene Animal Shelter, they had announced a desire to build a brand new Pet Adoption and Resource Center (PARC) to better serve all the homeless pets around Abilene. After quite a bit of planning and anticipation, All Kind made the announcement for the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, August 15th at 9 am.
You are invited to attend, participate, and learn more about the new PARC to be located at 610 East South 11th Street in Abilene. In partnership with the city of Abilene, All Kind and its donors announced their want to design and build a completely new state-of-the-art animal adoption center to replace the existing Abilene Animal Shelter.
All Kind Board Chair Andrea Robison said, "The breaking ground on the PARC is a historical event for our community, and we appreciate all our donors, All Kind team members, volunteers, and board members who have been steadfast and tireless in the efforts to bring the project to fruition."
The new Pet Adoption & Resource Center is anticipated to cost around 13.1 million dollars and could take up to a year to complete. This is a historical event in the fact that the current Abilene Animal Shelter on South 25th was built in the 1950s and was never intended to hold pets for any lengthy period of time. The new PARC is promising to offer much more needed room for animals and staff.
The groundbreaking will be hosted by All Kind's executive director Molly Moser, Abilene City Manager Robert Hanna, and Abilene Mayor Weldon Hurt. I hope to see you there.
