Deana Carter's new movie, A Very Country Wedding, is set to premiere soon, and she's giving fans a behind-the-scenes first look via this Taste of Country exclusive.

The new film from UPtv is a sequel to 2017's A Very Country Christmas. That film centered around a budding romance between a country star named Zane (Greyston Holt) who hides out from the pressures of his career in a small town, and a local interior designer named Jeanette (Bea Santos). In A Very Country Wedding, their wedding is delayed because of Zane’s hectic tour schedule, and the couple are forced to overcome paparazzi and rumors to find their way back together.

Carter reprises her role as Jolene, a local woman who organized the town's Christmas concert in the first film, and as she points out in the clip above, her character is much more fleshed out this time around.

"I love the way that they beefed up Jolene's private life in this movie," the "Strawberry Wine" hitmaker states. "Like they brought in her ex-husband, they bring in her career a little bit more, her previous career that they hint at in the first movie."

That career includes some new footage of the CMA Award-winning singer-songwriter recording a song in the studio in character as Jolene. Carter is especially happy with how her character's knowledge of music connects her more to the local community. She ends up teaching Jeanette's daughter how to play piano so she can perform at her mom's wedding to Zane.

"They open her up to talk about songwriting a little bit," Carter adds with a big smile. "It's been a lot of fun."

A Very Country Wedding is set to air on July 6, 2019, at 7PM ET on UPtv.
