Cops Show Up After Mother Changes Son’s Diaper in Starbucks
To change or not to change. That is the question.
A woman in Denver caused controversy last week when she changed her one-year-old son’s diaper in the seating area of a Starbucks because the establishment didn’t have a changing table.
Ruth Burgos said she had no choice:
"As a mother, you have to do what you have to do. Wherever you have to do it. I just kind of wiped him off, cleaned him off as quickly as I could.”
Ruth’s husband, Alex, says an employee was extremely condescending about the whole matter and threw a rag at his wife while reminding her to “wipe the seat when you’re done” before laughing alongside some co-workers.
Alex was so incensed that he spilled his coffee on the floor and said “Make sure you clean that.”
After a bit of arguing, the store called police, who did not make any arrests.
A spokesman for Starbucks has apologized to Ruth and Alex and added they would consider putting changing tables into the store.
