‘Catching Fire’ Posters Tease the Quarter Quell and Introduce the Tributes
Are you ready to see Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson's Peeta Mellark dive back into The Hunger Games? In anticipation of Comic-Con 2013's coming 'Catching Fire' panel, which will feature the brand-new trailer for the 'Hunger Games' sequel, a batch of new posters has hit, debuting the new tributes.
Fans of the original Suzanne Collins' books knew well in advance that 'Catching Fire' would see the District 12 pair thrown back into the Games. Only this time, it won't be the same song and dance ... not exactly, anyway. The 75th annual Hunger Games falls on a Quarter Quell, and what is that, you ask? Accompanied with the newly released promotional art from Lionsgate (shown below), came the following:
Citizens of Panem: Every quarter century, The Capitol honors the anniversary of its victory over the Districts with a special edition of the Games. This year—for the first time in history—your favorite victors will return as tributes. As usual, all residents are required by Capitol law to watch the Games. Insubordination will not be tolerated.
New cast members Jeffrey Wright, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Amanda Plummer, Alan Ritchson, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Maria Howell, Lynn Cohen and Bruno Gunn, to name a few, are filling in the roles of the other victors from Hunger Games past, and are now Katniss and Peeta's adversaries in the new arena. Across the internet, 11 new character posters have been released, featuring some of these new tributes.
Keeping with the book and the previously leaked set photos, these new uniforms for the Quarter Quell were -- SPOILER -- constructed to accompany the water- and island-based environments in which the tributes will be battling.
