Big Country Live opens in Abilene’s SODA District this weekend with Texas Red Dirt music legends The Damn Quails, and special guest Steven Denmark live.

Abilene's Growing, And So Is the Fun

This past weekend, while driving around Abilene, I turned to my wife and asked, “Is it just me, or does it seem like Abilene’s getting bigger and busier?” She smiled and said, “Abilene’s growing, honey. It’ll never be that same little town from the ’70s again.”

And she’s right. Gone are the days when dinner and live entertainment meant two separate destinations. Abilene is evolving, and nowhere is that more evident than in the heart of the SODA District (South Of Downtown Abilene), where a brand-new outdoor venue is about to make some serious noise.

Introducing Big Country Live

Say hello to Big Country Live, next to The Big Country Beer Garden. Big Country Live is Abilene’s newest outdoor event venue, located at 806 South 2nd Street. This isn’t just a stage and some lights, it’s a whole vibe.

Big Country Live is surrounded by fan-favorite spots like The Stairs Club, The Soul Room, and of course, The Big Country Beer Garden, where my wife and I have enjoyed everything from mouthwatering food to just about every kind of adult beverage you can imagine. Whether you’re in the mood for live music, dinner, a cold drink, or all three, you’ll find it right here.

The Soul Room Goes Outside

While the Big Country Beer Garden’s “Soul Room” has already been a hit for indoor shows, Big Country Live brings the energy outside. It’s a perfect setting to soak in some Texas tunes, all while enjoying shelter from those gusty West Texas winds. Trust me, you’ll love it.

Saturday Night: Red Dirt Party in the SODA District

The grand opening celebration happens this Friday and Saturday, and the lineup is one you won’t want to miss:

  • Stephen Denmark kicks off the night at 8:00 p.m., bringing his unique blend of ’90s country and Springsteen-style storytelling.
  • Then, at 9:30 p.m., get ready for Texas Red Dirt legends The Damn Quails, live on stage.
  • Doors open at 7:00 p.m., so come early, grab a drink, and get ready for an unforgettable night of music in the heart of Abilene.

Tickets are just $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Want the VIP treatment? Reserve a four-person table for just $120 and enjoy the show with your crew in style, complete with amazing food, drinks, and live music under the West Texas sky.
