Is Abilene’s Putt Putt Golf Course Soon To Be a Grown-Ups Fun Place?
It appears that Putt-Putt the mini-golf game behind the Department of Public Safety building at South 1st and Danville, known for years as a great place to take kids to play is now becoming a adults' game too. The brainchild behind this new adventure is a local businessman and physician Dr. Victor Hudman.
I spoke with Dr. Hudman and he says, "yes we will be opening the putting green course again and we are working on adding more games and expanding the outdoor area as well as working on adding more fun and different games inside the building as well."
While the proper liquor licenses are being applied for and considered by the powers to be, the Putt-Putt golf course is closed. However, for it to open, it's going to take some time as it's in need of a few upgrades and repairs.
Now the concept of a Putt-Putt golf establishment selling liquor took me a few minutes to think about, and I realized that we grown-ups don't have too many fun places of this kind in and around Abilene (like a Dave and Busters). Think about it, after an evening out having dinner with the spouse and some friends we can go play like kids and have fun.
So, when will this grownups fun place oasis open up and what more will it have to offer? As to when will it actually open, that is up to the construction crews and when the new building supplies become available. The construction part has already begun as plans are being laid out.
Hudman says "the indoors will offer a comfortable place to sit and relax while enjoying an adult beverage or a non-alcoholic drink too." While the exact date is not known Dr. Hudmans said "I'm hoping before the end of spring but it cannot open soon enough for me."
