Will the real Willie Nelson please stand up? The Red Headed Stranger got an interesting new look thanks to Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, who did his best to imitate the iconic country star on the new series ‘Sing Your Face Off.’ ABC’s latest competition-based show has famous faces dressing up and performing as other famous faces — and the results are…surprising.
‘Sing Your Face Off’ kicked off May 31 and features two back-to-back episodes every Saturday night. According to ABC, each show will feature a complete transformation by contestants as they seek to embody the look and presence of a different performer each week.
“From the hours in the makeup chair to the days spent with choreographers and vocal coaches…the celebrities will embody everything about the assigned icon — their walk, their talk, and their distinguishing mannerisms leading up to the live performance in front of the studio audience,” says ABC. “Viewers will get the chance to see each of the celebrities portray multiple musical performers during the series, such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Pavarotti, Pitbull, Britney Spears, and Tina Turner, to name a few.”
The heavy metal singer performed Shotgun Willie’s hit, ‘You Were Always On My Mind,’ and while the physical transformation is uncanny, there’s still more than a hint of Bach’s hard rock voice in the performance, with is more than a few octaves higher than Nelson’s.
Along with Bach, this season’s famous contestants are basketball player Landry Fields, comedian Jon Lovitz, singer China Anne McClain and actress Lisa Rinna. The show is hosted by actor John Barrowman and includes celebrity judges Debbie Gibson and Darrell Hammond.
‘Sing Your Face Off’ airs Saturdays at 9PM ET on ABC.
Nelson will release his album, ‘Band of Brothers,’ on June 17 – his first record of all-new original songs in 18 years.
