The 'Glee' franchise faces some unique circumstances going forward into a potential fifth season, as FOX continues to negotiate with cast and crew to re-sign -- though a fifth season could abandon the dual-city format and present a very different series next fall. News broke recently that Oxygen's tie-in reality competition 'The Glee Project' wouldn't return for a third season, perhaps fallen to FOX's prolonged negotiations, but might the show live on after all? Hear what Oxygen says inside!

'Glee' itself will likely return next season, even as FOX takes its time negotiating new contracts for the talent, but Oxygen's 'The Glee Project' remains firmly in limbo. Monday, news broke from TVLine that Oxygen had opted not to renew the reality competition series for a third season, though today Oxygen itself is singing a different tune.

“What TVLine reported was speculation,” a representative for Oxygen told Entertainment Weekly. “'The Glee Project' has not been cancelled." Of course, the network may still decide to go through with cancellation, given that the second season averaged below a million viewers.

It remains to be seen what becomes of 'The Glee Project' once FOX provides a clear indication of 'Glee' proper's future, but what say you? If 'Glee' continues, would you lament that no future 'Glee Project' stars would turn up?
