It was revealed today that Universal has agreed to co-finance Seth MacFarlane's upcoming Western comedy, 'A Million Ways to Die in the West,' finally putting the film on the fast track to production. After all, MacFarlane's 'Ted' shattered all expectations at the box office last year, so they'd be foolish not to. Also hidden away in the announcement: Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast, adding another great name to a shockingly solid ensemble.
Earlier tonight we heard that FOX had picked up four major new dramas to series, though the network's announcements are far from over. FOX has also granted series orders to 'SNL' vet Andy Samberg's new detective comedy 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' under 'Parks and Recreation' showrunner Mike Schur,' along with Seth MacFarlane's 'Dads' and three others. Get the inside scoop on FOX's new comedy lineup inside!
As with ever new season of 'Downton Abbey' it could prove a while yet before season 4 makes its way stateside to give fans the posh British drama they so desperately crave. Thankfully, one of America's less refined series is content to speed things up, as 'Family Guy' brings 'Downton Abbey' star Michelle Dockery in for a guest role! Find out what familiar role the famous 'Downton' star will play on 'Family Guy' inside!
At this year Oscars, Seth MacFarlane caused quite a controversy as he hosted the ceremony with a number of risque bits and jokes (most notably the "We Saw Your Boobs" song from the opening monologues) but that was exactly what Oscar producers hoped MacFarlane would bring to the normally staid production. The 'Family Guy' creator previously said he has no interest in returning, the producers seemed to have liked the controversy (and the ratings that went with it) and MacFarlane has officially been invited to return to host the 2014 Oscars.
Curious, and conflicting news to report from FOX's third Seth MacFarlane-created Animation Domination staple 'The Cleveland Show,' as heavy rumors seem to be circulating about the show's cancellation. The current, fourth season will wrap up this coming May, with a production cycle that would very shortly require a decision from FOX, though the broadcast network has apparently denied reports of 'The Cleveland Show's cancellation. Find out 'The Cleveland Show's true fate inside!
Barely one full day after the tragic events of the Boston Marathon bombings, and already a tasteless parody video has begun to make the rounds, splicing together several different clips from FOX's long-running animation titan 'Family Guy' to make it appear as if a March 17 episode predicted yesterday's attacks. While the video makes the rounds, series creator and animation magnate Seth MacFarlane has issued his own statement denouncing the hoax.
There's been no shortage of controversy following the 2013 Oscars, most of it dealing with host Seth MacFarlane's particular brand of comedy, which is either hilariously crude or mean-spirited and misogynistic, depending on who you ask. But with ratings higher than last year's ceremony (40.3 million people tuned in to watch 'Argo' win Best Picture), you'd wonder if the Academy would decide that further outcry was worth it and ask the 'Family Guy' creator back for a second time. However, MacFarlane himself preemptively answered that question on Twitter.
One thing that was missing from the 2013 Oscars ceremony was Peter Griffin -- although, that might have been a good thing. Seth MacFarlane has summoned his 'Family Guy' persona many times before in public appearances, but when he hosted the Oscars this Sunday, he managed to restrain himself. However, if you were watching the show in RI and managed to leave the TV on for the proceeding ABC 6 news segment, you would have seen the real-life Peter Griffin, or rather the man on whom MacFarlane based the cartoon character.
The 2013 Oscars ceremony, hosted by Seth MacFarlane, started off with a bang. We knew there was gonna be at least one or two musical numbers, given the comedian's past musical turns for 'Family Guy,' but were you prepared for Harry Potter and Robin Boy Wonder singing and dancing together? Or, for that matter, Captain Kirk beaming in from the future?
Seth MacFarlane is seemingly Hollywood's busiest man. Not only does he have a block of animated programing on the Fox network, he just made the smash hit 'Ted,' is about to host the Oscars, and has at least two movies in the works. Though there was word that 'Ted 2' would be filming shortly, it looks like his comic Western 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' is coming first, and will be co-starring Charlize Theron.
Between the ongoing success of 'Family Guy,' 'American Dad,' 'The Cleveland Show,' 'Ted' and his upcoming gig hosting the Oscars, Seth MacFarlane has the world by a string. And with live-action success at the box-office, where better to turn next than a live-action TV series? As pilot season picks up, FOX has given a strong display of faith to MacFarlane picking up to series live-action comedy pilot 'Dads,' but what role will MacFarlane take on the actual show?
