Ben Utecht is a former NFL star who is losing his mind...literally. He suffered from many concussions that have led to irreparable brain damage that is causing him to suffer memory loss. He has just recently completed a song and video for his wife and daughters called 'You Will Always Be My Girls'.

The Minnesota native played for two NFL teams; the Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2006, Utecht picked up a Super Bowl ring with the Colts. In 2008 he began playing with the Bengals and in 2009 he suffered a career ending concussion, during training camp, that left him unconscious for about a minute and a half. After an 8 month rehabilitation it would prove to be a career ending injury. This was his 5th documented concussion during his career and it left him with memory loss and behavior problems. At the age of only 29 Utecht retired from pro ball.

He then turned to his music once again, something he had put on the back burner during his football career. Becoming a singer/songwriter was just one of the many new outlets Utecht would tackle. He is also an author, actor, speaker/spokesperson for the American Brain Foundation, an Ambassador for the American Academy of Neurology and has testified before Congress as to the seriousness of concussions on football players.

Utecht wrote a song for his wife and 3 daughters once he realized his memory would begin to fail over time. The song 'You Will Always Be My Girls' is on his album Man Up and is a gift to his family.

Ben will be here in Abilene December 6th to perform with the Abilene Philharmonic. Click here for details about the show.
