‘Share Your Christmas’ Food Drive Set for December 10th
Each year the Big Country comes together for Share Your Christmas, a food drive that benefits the Food Bank of West Central Texas.
Well, it’s time once again for this annual event.
Last year, this drive collected over 300,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank. Due to the economy, and an overall increase of 25% to 50% more people seeking assistance with food, our goal this year is 500,000 meals!
We’re asking for your monetary and non-perishable food donations. With every $1 donation, the Food Bank can distribute 6.25 pounds of food, the equivalent of 5 meals!

It is because of our wonderful, caring community that the agencies who serve those in need are able to feed so many. Over 3.9 million pounds of food was distributed in 2013, and we anticipate at least 4 million pounds will go to needy families in 2014 and even more in 2015. Our 175 non-profit member agencies are seeing increases of 25% in requests for assistance, while some are seeing as much as a 50% increase. Food pantries are providing emergency food boxes to over 8,700 families each month, and our feeding programs serve over 135,000 meals each month. The Food Bank is stretched to the limit, and needs everyone’s help to finish out the year.
