I have run into so many people that fear the dentist that often they don't go for check ups at all. That's not a good thing. Admittedly you want someone who is well trained and doesn't hurt you; and this new robotic dental patient that is the brain child of a Japanese University is hopefully going to help train the next generation of dental professionals.

Japan's Showa University came up with "Showa Hanako 2" and revealed it at a press conference recently. First developed 10 years ago it has been revamped to be even more realistic for students to practice on.

The Showa has a new silicone body, tongue and mouth and they even enlisted the help of a top "sex doll" manufacturer to make this happen.

Showa is capable of head movement, has sneezing, coughing, blinking and gag reflexes. It can move it's tongue and mouth and has some speech recognition as well. (I've never understood why they talk to you when your mouth is open and full of tools)

The Showa isn't going to be cheap though, in fact there isn't even a price tag available yet. It is however, set to go on sale in Japan later this year.

So who is your favorite dentist in Abilene?
