NASCAR – Brad Keselowski Wins at Talladega [PHOTOS]
The last few races in the Sprint Cup Series have been pretty uneventful as far as wrecks and cautions. But, that all changed this past weekend at Talladega Superspeedway -a track known for taking out the most experienced veterans – where there were plenty of cautions and banged up cars in the Aaron’s 499.
Brad Keselowski used a very slick move on Kyle Busch to take the win in a green-white checkered finish. After a late caution that took the race into overtime, Busch pushed Keselowski to the lead on the last lap. On the final lap of the race, Keselowski went high in the turn then dived down low to separate the two cars and secure the win.
“… I went into Turn 3 high and pulled down off of Kyle and broke the tandem up. That allowed me to drive untouched to the checkered flag. It wasn’t easy to convince myself to do that, but it was the right move. I’m glad it worked.”
The plan worked perfectly to get Kesolowski his second win of the season.
The race started out pretty boring as there were a few cautions for debris and a few small wrecks, but that all changed at the end. In fact, there were 4 cautions in the final 45 laps alone on a track known for ‘the big one’ – a wreck that takes out several cars at once.
Here’s how the top 10 looked.
One thing worth noting was the #51 car of Kurt Busch. Recognize the paint scheme?
Yep, that’s Ricky Bobby’s paint scheme from the movie ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”. Kurt didn’t have a sponsor for his car, so he and his crew decided to put the movie famed paint scheme on his car. I thought it was awesome!
Anyway, check out some more pictures of the race.
