Miranda Lambert is a true patron saint for homeless dogs. The singer spent her Sunday (Sept. 8) helping to place 40 dogs in new homes at an adoption drive held at the Tishomingo Animal Shelter in Okla. as part of the final Dog Days of Summer event.

Lambert didn't just spread the word about the event via social media -- she worked it. She was on-site, giving away hot dogs, drinks and snowcones and shared real-time updates of the pooches that found new homes by posting photos on her Twitter feed. She also introduced possible owners to the available rescues.

Yep, she's a canine crusader! Lambert doesn’t pay lip service to her love of animals. She makes stuff happen for them -- so kudos to her for her tireless efforts and for bringing love into the lives of dogs in need.

Notice that there were two pooches who shared their names with fellow country stars close to Lambert's huge heart.
