‘Hart of Dixie’, the CW series, has revealed an addition to its cast for its second season. In an effort to create more friction in the romantic interests of the show, they've created a recurring role for country music singer and Broadway actress Laura Bell Bundy.

If you haven’t caught it, ‘Hart of Dixie’ is pretty much the female version of the Michael J. Fox movie ‘Doc Hollywood’. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson), a hot shot doctor surgeon destined for the big city, finds herself somehow misplaced in rural Bluebell, Alabama. She has feelings for fellow big city transplant, George (Scott Porter), but he’s engaged, so they can only be friends. I’d tell you more, but I don’t want to spoil it for you.

According the the Huffington Post, Bundy has signed on to appear as Shelby, a potential love interest for George. She is expected to appear in at least two episodes. Her debut on the show will take place in the third episode of the season, scheduled to air October 16th.

This isn’t Laura Bell’s first trip to the small screen. Bundy has been in several TV movies, and has had a recurring role on the series, ‘How I Met Your Mother’. She has also made appearances on the series ‘Cold Case’, and was a judge of the Miss America pageant in 2009.

Add "Hart of Dixie’ to the growing list of recent acting credits for Laura Bell Bundy. Since she was in the Broadway run of ‘Hairspray’ in 2004, Bundy starred in ‘Legally Blonde: The Musical’ where she earned a Tony Award nomination Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Country music fans, however, may know her best as the "Giddy On Up" singer.

Bundy seems to insist on keeping her singing career intact while she continues to act. Her new CD, ‘Another Piece of Me’ is being finished up in the studio. No release date is set, but expect to see it released by early 2013.
