Country singer Kellie Pickler and songwriter beau Kyle Jacobs planned an elaborate Nashville wedding ... then decided they didn't need pomp and circumstance to say "I do." So, they eloped to Antigua in the Caribbean, sealing their marriage at sunset on New Year's Day (Jan. 1) in 2011.

"He makes me feel so, so great about myself. I feel so beautiful when I’m with him," the North Carolina native tells The Boot. "He always tells me he likes me better with no makeup on and sweatpants. He makes me feel the most beautiful when I’m with him. As long as I’m healthy, then he is fine with whatever I wear.”

Jacobs is certainly a keeper: He proposed on June 15, the birthday of Pickler's late grandmother. In doing so, Jacobs intentionally turned what would have been a very sad day into a joyful celebration.

"My whole world changed," Pickler said after the engagement. "We both feel like we got my grandmother's blessing."

The couple dated for three years after a meeting through mutual friends sparked their romance.
