Houston Texan’s Week 2 Win Against the Miami Dolphins [PHOTOS]
The Houston Texans opened their season with a win at home against the Indianapolis Colts. A win at home is what you expect from your team; it’s the road games that are scary. However, Texans fans had it easier knowing the Miami Dolphins were the worst home team in the NFL.
Texans WR, Andre Johnson, returned to where it all began for him…Miami. No, he didn’t play for the Dolphins, but he did play high school and college ball in Miami. Heck, the stadium was half empty and would have been much less than that had it not been for Johnson purchasing 170 tickets for his friends and family.
1st quarter scoring was entirely made up of field goals by both teams, Houston with 2 and Miami with 1.
Following an interception of Miami QB Chad Henne in the 2nd quarter, Matt Schaub found Owen Daniels in the back of the end zone for the 1st touchdown of the game. Neil Rackers, of the Texans, wrapped up the 1st half scoring with a field goal. At halftime, the Texans led the Dolphins 16-3.
The only 3rd quarter scoring was by a 12 yard Henne to Brandon Marshall pass to bring the Dolphins within 6 points of the Texas, 10-16.
The 4th quarter pretty much started off the way the 3rd ended, and that’s with a high powered Dolphins offense. Dan Carpenter brought the Dolphins 3 points closer with a 34 yard field goal…and that’s where the Dolphins scoring came to an end. Leading by 3, The Texans controlled the rest of the game by running the clock down with the legs of Ben Tate, because Arian Foster left the game with a re-aggravated hamstring. The Texans sealed the win with a 23 yard Schaub to Johnson touchdown pass. Final score was 23-13.
Players of the Game – Passing: Matt Schaub (HOU) 21-29 for 230 yards with 2 TD’s – Running: Daniel Thomas (MIA) 18 carries for 107 yards – Receiving: Andre Johnson (HOU) 7 catches for 93 yards and 1 TD.
Up next for the Houston Texans…the 1-1 New Orleans Saints in New Orleans.
