It’s an upbeat track, but Smith upholds his traditional country style as he celebrates good things happening to good people. The country singer paints the image of a simple life of a farmer and his wife, championing for the hard working underdog.
“Don’t you love it when the good guys win / Don’t you love it when his ship comes in / Yeah man every now and then / What goes around comes around again,” he sings in the chorus. “When The Good Guys Win” is just one of the instant gratification tracks fans get when they pre-order the album before it goes wide — they can also get “Still Holds Up,” “You’re In It” and the album’s lead single, “Happens Like That,” co written by Florida Georgia Line‘s Tyler Hubbard.

Smith co-penned eight of the album’s 13 songs, one of which features his alter-ego Earl Dibbles Jr. “With the album evolving this way on the road, country fairs, parking lots, green rooms and hotel lobbies, it truly reflects the source of the inspiration: the fans,” Smith says about the project.
When the Good Guys Win follows Smith’s major label debut album Remington, which includes his breakthrough, chart-topping single “Backroad Song,” in addition to “If the Boots Fits” that reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The rising star continues to hit the road as an opening act on Luke Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour through late fall.
