Grandma Becomes Cheerleader For Oakland Raiders
Susie Sanchez has tried out for the NFL's Oakland Raider's cheerleading squad 5 times in the last 6 years. This was her lucky year and she's a GRANDMA!
While stating that Sanchez is a grandmother is true it is also a little miss leading. She is only 37 years old. She is the mother of 3 having her first child at the age of 20.
She has been a dancer since she was 8 years old but after the birth of her first child she entered into the corporate world working for IBM for 11 years. She currently works as a sales assistant for a television station.
She decided in 1999 that she still wanted to dance so she opened her own dance studio. While she loved it she still had the bug to perform. This led to her trying out for the Raiders squad for the next 6 years.
While it is true that she is a 'grandma' she is not the oldest cheerleader in the NFL; that honor goes to Bengals cheerleader Laura Vikmanis who is a whopping 42 years old.
The moral of this story: it's never too late to live your dream!!
