FOX Developing ‘Man on Fire’ TV Series, ‘Cyclops’ Graphic Novel Adaptation

FOX Man on Fire TV Series
New Regency

Earlier today we heard that the wave of movie-to-TV adaptations had only grown stronger, with the Christian Bale classic ‘American Psycho‘ being brought to the small screen, but we’re not out of the woods yet. New reports reveal that 20th Century Fox TV has partnered with New Regency to adapt the story behind 2004 Denzel Washington thriller ‘Man on Fire,’ as well as graphic novel ‘Cyclops.’

Though only in the nascent phases, development on either property joins ‘The Kingkiller Chronicle’ as part of an overall deal between 20th Century Fox TV and New Regency. ‘Traveler’ creator David DiGilio will pen the adaptation for ‘Man on Fire,’ adapted from the original A.J. Quinnell novel, which was itself adapted into a 1987 French-Italian film and the much-more recognizable 2004 version from writer Brian Helgeland and director Tony Scott, starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning.

Where the original ‘Man on Fire’ drama revolves around bodyguard and former CIA operative/Marine John Creasy going on a rampage after his young charge is abducted in Mexico. FOX’s take would see Creasy reconnect with Pinta 18 years after her kidnapping to dismantle the cartel responsible for ruining their lives. DiGilo will executive produce the 20th Century Fox Television effort alongside New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Brad Weston and Andrew Plotkin.

Meanwhile, ‘Cyclops’ will follow the best-selling graphic novel’s plot of war becoming entertainment, in a script written by Todd Komarnicki and executive produced alongside Milchan, Weston, and Plotkin.
