Lead singer of the group The Coasters, Carl Gardner,  died Sunday evening at the age of 83.

Gardner's wife said he was in hospice care for Alzheimer's and congestive heart failure.  The coaster's were formed in 1955 with Gardner, Billy Guy, Bobby Nunn, Leon Hughes and Adolph Jacobs.  Although Jacobs left a few years later.  The Coasters were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.  Gardner was the last surviving member of the group.
