College Sweethearts Marry After 60 Years Apart
Peggy Marie Pence Schuster and Henry O. Freund first felt a spark between them back in 1950 when the pair attended Southwestern of Memphis (now Rhodes College).
They exercised their young love by sitting next to each other in class and attending school events together. But like many college sweethearts, their romance didn’t make the jump into the real world. Soon after graduation, Marie married someone else, and Henry, who had joined the Air Force, did the same.

Mitchell Guist, who starred on the History Channel reality show ‘Swamp People,’ passed away on Monday while loading a boat on Louisiana’s Belle River.
Neil Patrick Harris Has Hilarious Mother’s Day Twitter Mishap
In our digital age, you have to do more than just send your mom flowers and a card for Mother’s Day. The woman who brought you into this world deserves at least one shout out on social media.
Which is no big deal, really, since a tweet doesn’t cost you anything and shouldn’t take more than a minute or so to compose. Nevertheless, Neil Patrick Harris managed to make a hilarious mess out of the Twitter message he sent out for Mother’s Day.
Six-Year-Old With Cerebral Palsy Surprises Homecoming Marine Dad by Walking
The other day we posted a homecoming video in which a soldier surprises his two young children, who were throwing out the first pitch at an Arizona Diamondbacks game, by being the mystery catcher. We said it was the best homecoming video we’ve seen in some time.
Well, consider it topped.
Little Leaguer Pulls Off Rare Unassisted Triple Play
There have only been 15 unassisted triple plays in Major League history. This makes the instant inning killer the rarest play in all of baseball.
Although they don’t keep track of such things, it stands to reason there have been more unassisted triple plays than that on the Little League level — just given the sheer number of games played.
What’s the Best Mother’s Day Gift? — Survey of the Day
According to a new survey, what mothers want for Mother’s Day and what the men in their lives think they want for Mother’s Day aren’t necessarily the same thing.
Soldier Dad Gives Kids a Huge Surprise After First Pitch at Diamondbacks Game
Six-year-old Jackson Aguirre and his five-year-old sister Alanna were pretty thrilled to have been chosen to throw out the first pitch at a recent Arizona Diamondbacks game. Which isn’t surprising, as that honor is usually reserved for luminaries, not a couple kids in elementary school.
Right before their big moment the stadium’s JumboTron displayed a video message from their dad, a soldier stationed in Afghanistan.
Who’s Calling 911 In New York City? Butts Are
Just about everybody who has a cellphone has accidentally ”butt” or “pocket”-dialed someone at one time or another. And when this happens you just hope you don’t end up ringing an ex, or your boss at 3 AM.
But it turns out many of these inadvertent calls end up being directed to 911 — somewhere else you really shouldn’t be calling unless you have a real emergency. In fact, in New York City, 38% of all calls to emergency services in 2010 were accidental.
Someone Actually Bought Kobe Bryant’s Sweaty Facial Mask For $67,000
During the NBA All Star game in February, Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat shattered Kobe Bryant’s nose with a hard foul. As a result, the Los Angeles Lakers’ star was forced to wear a clear plastic protective mask over his face for the next 11 games.
Thankfully done with the protective device, Bryant decided to auction it off to raise money for Los Angeles area homeless charities. But “Black Mamba” did a curious thing before the auction began– he undercut the item’s value by joking that we were going to “see if anybody’s dumb enough to buy that sweaty mask.”
FDA May Approve Truvada for HIV Prevention, But Controversy Looms
On Thursday, the Food And Drug Administration will meet to decide whether Truvada, a drug which is used to manage HIV, should also be approved as a way of preventing the spread of the disease.
One-Armed Little League Pitcher Coleman Shannon Throws a Shocking No-Hitter
Coleman Shannon was born without a right hand and forearm, due to a medical condition called Amelia, but that hasn’t slowed him down from chasing his baseball dreams. In fact, the 14-year-old left-handed pitcher recently threw a no-hitter in a Johnsonville, SC little league game.
You Can Now Take a Bus Tour of the ‘Family Guy’ Town of Quahog, RI
Unlike a certain other prime-time animated sitcom, ‘Family Guy‘ has never played coy with what state it is set in. ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane attended college in Rhode Island and has more or less made the state a character in the show.
The town of Quahog however, where the dysfunctional Griffin family and their even more dysfunctional friends live, is fictional.
But it’s going to be a real place for a day as part of a bus tour being offered by the Rhode Island-based Blackstone Valley Tourism Council.
