This really gets my blood pumping.  I realize there are security measures we must all follow but common sense and a little common courtesy needs to be more apart of our lives.  This 95 year old woman with leukemia and bound to a wheelchair went through an extra 45 minutes of TSA screenings before her flight. This woman was flying to Michigan to say her final good-byes and be closer to her daughter and her burial site. She has spent the last eight years suffering from leukemia.  She is bound to a wheelchair which means when you fly you have to go thorough special screenings.  I understand this, have no problem with that what I do have a problem with is the lack of common sense and courtesy that these agents seem to be lacking.

This woman is pulled into a private room for the screening when the agents begin to pat her down they find something hard, which turns out to be this woman's Depend undergarment.  They then give her two options.  Loose the undergarment or don't fly.  Really?  You morons.  The woman has little dignity left as it is, so please lets strip away the last little bit of that.

Yes, I know we had an "underwear" bomber.  So what, should we all be made to fly nude from now on?  That way no one can hide anything anywhere.  Oh, wait people have found ways to get drugs into this country concealed in places we won't discuss here but you could be naked and not know they are there.  So really where do we draw the line.  Someone is always going to find someway to hurt this country if they want to. There is always going to be someone who can outsmart the best technology we have so lets please use common sense.

Here's what the TSA spokespeople had to say about this matter:

The TSA works with passengers to resolve any security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner,” she said, according to the website. “TSA cannot exempt any group from screening because we know from intelligence that there are terrorists out there that would then exploit that vulnerability.”

Yeah,  it really sounds like you handled this in a respectful and sensitive matter.

I'm pretty sure a 95 year old woman with leukemia is not trying to get on the plane with a bomb in her Depends.  Geez I really hate this, I've had grandparents that had to wear these undergarments and it's not a pleasant thing to have to do in the first place.  I feel sorry for this woman and her family that they had to endure this.

Now to end this story the woman did make her flight, by two minutes, and it was the last time her daughter saw her.  She passed away.  Her daughter says she will be waiting up there in Heaven.
