If you thought American Horror Story promos were bats— crazy, Tom Hardy has something seriously Taboo to show you. FX has come up with not one, but four new promos of the star-studded Ridley Scott miniseries, and they’re … uh … well, the word “nightmaresplosion” comes to mind.

We won’t actually see the new eight-part series until some point in early 2017, but FX nonetheless graced us with four trippy new spots to set the mood. There’s weird masks, giant wheels, bags full of coins, writhing androgynous corpses and a shirtless Tom Hardy! Everything a growing lunatic needs.

The series stems from an idea between Hardy and his father Chips, starring House of Cards vet Michael Kelly, Game of Thrones stars Jonathan Pryce and Oona Chaplin, along with David Hayman. So reads the official synopsis:

Set in 1814, Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder, and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

Hardy also executive produces with Ridley Scott and Locke alum Steven Knight. Watch the first trailer again below, and stay tuned for an official premiere.
