The Texas court of Criminal Appeals has ruled to postpone another execution, this time for 55-year-old Randall Wayne Mays who was set to be put to death on Wednesday.
Convicted murderer Clayton Lockett was scheduled to be executed at 6:00 p.m. tonight (April 29). While authorities were administering the lethal injection they discovered the line into Lockett's arm had blown. Prison officials halted the execution and at 7:06 p.m. Lockett suffered a massive heart attack and passed away.
This is a follow up to my earlier post today on the Mexican national Humberto Leal. He was put to death this evening following a hard fought stay of execution. This controversial case even had the White House calling for the state of Texas to stay the execution.
