New ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Video Breaks Down Maul-Kenobi Showdown Moves
We’re still waiting on the precipice of Star Wars Rebels’ final season, but who’s to say Season 3 has given up all its goods? Get a deeper look into the final showdown between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi, including a Qui-Gon touch you might not have noticed.
Ahead of the August 29 Blu-ray release, Entertainment Weekly debuted a new Star Wars Rebels Season 3 featurette taking a closer look into the climactic (if brief) “Twin Suns” duel. Showrunner Dave Filoni has previously spoken to the samurai influence of the swift showdown, as well that Maul attempted to get Kenobi with the same move that felled Qui-Gon, while the new featurette highlights Obi-Wan cycling through old poses before taking up his former master’s:
The three-disc Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Three Blu-ray will retail at a pre-order price of $45.99. Season 3’s home release will include the show’s first-ever audio commentary on select episodes, while the full features are outlined below:
Return To Mandalore - Explore where Mandalore fits within the Empire’s regime – and whether Sabine can unite her people against the Imperial forces.
Thrawn: A Legend Reborn - Learn Thrawn’s significance in Star Wars lore, and what the future may hold for this memorable villain.
Apprentices to Outcasts: Kenobi And Maul - Track two adversaries who’ve clashed throughout Star Wars history, and find out why the time was right to conclude their story.
The Original Rebel: Saw Gerrera Returns – Extended - Meet the Original Rebel. This exclusive extended version features Forest Whitaker discussing the character he brings to life in both Rebels and Rogue One.
Five Audio Commentaries - Featuring Dave Filoni (Executive Producer), Justin Ridge (Supervising Director), Kilian Plunkett (Art Director), Keith Kellogg (Animation Supervisor) and Joel Aron (CG Supervisor: Lighting & FX)
In the meantime, Star Wars Rebels has yet to declare a final premiere date, but we’ve likely got more Obi-Wan in our future regardless. Stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
