Yes! Digital Donations Now Possible For Salvation Army In Texas
Texas Salvation Army Red Kettles Go Digital So Everyone Can Give This Christmas
A Tradition of Giving, Now Made Easier
For nearly 150 years, the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Abilene has been one of the most recognizable symbols of Christmas kindness. Here in Abilene, those familiar bells have echoed outside our malls and shopping centers for decades, and now, the tradition is getting a much-needed upgrade for the modern world.

As someone who has personally rung the bell more times than I can count in my 49 years at the radio station, broadcasting live, greeting families, and helping raise money for our neighbors in need, I can tell you the Red Kettle is more than a bucket. It’s hope. It’s love. It’s all about community.
But we’ve all heard the same thing: “I’d give, but I don’t carry cash anymore.”
Well, that excuse is gone.

Tap, Scan, or Click, Giving Has Gone Digital
The Salvation Army of Abilene is embracing technology to make generosity easier than ever. At kettles across the city, you’ll now find a QR code you can scan with your phone to donate instantly. It works with Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, debit cards, smartphones, whatever people use today.
Whether through cash or a quick tap of your phone, every donation stays local. It supports year-round programs like food assistance, shelter, disaster relief, youth outreach, emergency support, and more. You can also give or volunteer at any time at SalvationArmyAbilene.org.
Volunteers Are Still Needed
Bell ringers are the heartbeat of this mission. Every hour someone spends ringing raises real money that helps Abilenians stay warm, fed, and supported. Individuals, families, church groups, and businesses can sign up at RegisterToRing.com.
Join the Red Kettle Challenge on December 13
Abilene will take part in the National Commander’s Red Kettle Challenge at Hobby Lobby on S. 14th Street, and the community is encouraged to stop by and help push Abilene to the top.
If you feel the love to give this season, whether through a QR code, spare change, or volunteering, your kindness will change lives right here at home.
