This past Saturday at the Lawrence Hall's Super Center, potential car buyers were asked if they wanted to save extra money on their car purchase. If they did, they would have to shoot some baskets to get any additional discounts. Every basket they made up to five were worth $100 each. So the customer had the potential to save another $500 on their car deal. I asked if they minded if I could shoot a few hoops just for fun. Jeremy Johnson the Manager gave me the ball and said "knock yourself out, besides I'm kind of curious to see if you can shoot."

What Jeremy and his sales staff didn't know is that I love basketball it's my favorite sport and I used to play it all the time. Now, before I shot any baskets, I asked a coworker/Account Executive Diane Gibbs if she would use my iPhone to take a video of me shooting some free-throws. What happened next was just sheer athleticism, I was sure the pro scouts would be calling and if they didn't, at least I'd have the video to put on YouTube. As the TV announcer would have said "Fernandez shoots from three point territory and, it's in nothing but net!" Again I shot another, all the while I'm asking Diane "you getting all this?" To which she replied "yes, yes I'm getting it all!" Come to find out, Diane was only taking still shots and did not get any video of my greatness. So much for my pro basketball career. Nonetheless, this was a fun live broadcast and a clever way to get customers involved in the March Madness scheme of things. Anyone up for a game of one on one?
