Texas Rangers Offer $6,000 Reward to Solve Cold Case Murder
In June 2019, 37-year-old Courtney Allan Sholar—known affectionately as “Opie” to friends and family- vanished while traveling back to Ranger, Texas, from Oklahoma. He was in the middle of moving, driving a Dodge Ram pickup, and had strong ties to the oil field industry in Eastland County.

Nearly five years later, in May 2024, Sholar's body was discovered in a rural area of Eastland County. Now, the Texas Rangers and the Eastland County Sheriff’s Office are working hard to find those responsible.
The Case Is Heating Up, But the Rangers Need Your Help
Advanced DNA testing is underway, and several witnesses have already stepped forward with vital information. But investigators believe there are still key people in the community who know what happened—and it’s time for them to speak up.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a cash reward of up to $6,000 for tips that lead to an arrest. The reward is funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office and is part of a focused campaign to spotlight unsolved cases across Texas.
Tipsters Can Stay 100% Anonymous
