Miranda Lambert Undeterred When Plane Headed to ACM Awards Is Re-Routed
Miranda Lambert had probably never thought about stopping for a drink in Laughlin, Nev., until Thursday (March 30), but when life hands you lemons, you make a cocktail.
Lambert was on her way to the 2017 ACM Awards in Las Vegas when her plane was diverted due to strong winds in the area. It didn’t seem to bother Lambert too much, though, if her Instagram photo is any indication. She’s grinning at the camera, opening a bottle of wine out of the side of a rental car, which she set up to double as a mobile bar.
She took it all in stride, declaring, “ACM Awards or Bust!” and claiming via hashtag she could’ve been a bartender in another life. Laughlin is only 90 miles from Vegas, so here’s hoping Lambert and her crew made it safely to their destination.
The singer-songwriter is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at Sunday night's (April 2) ceremony, as well as Album of the Year for The Weight of These Wings and Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year for “Vice.” Her double album — post-split with Blake Shelton — was much anticipated and brought the carefully crafted, yet deeply honest songwriting prowess Lambert is known for in spades. Her wit and charm shone through on the tracks as well and earned Lambert her slew of nominations.
The ACM Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, air April 2 on CBS starting at 8PM ET. Lambert will perform during the show, and Miranda Lambert tickets for her Highway Vagabond Tour have been selling well across the U.S.
